As a teaching director I know once said in response to a question from the audience, “As teachers we know that there’s no such thing as a stupid question. But if there were such a thing, that would be it.” Just kidding, Steve. That is Spanish Moss, for which Louisiana is famous. Gloomy and haunting and beautiful.
The anecdote, though, is real. I may have even been the questioner and butt of the very dry humor of said teaching director (and friend), Dr. Paul Levitt, a very fine novelist himself.
At the risk of sounding stupid, what are those alien lifeform things dangling from the trees?

Thanks, Steve. Credit due not to the photographer but to Mother Nature.
