Just checked my Gary Lewis and the Playboys Greatest Hits album (Gary, remember Gary Lewis playing at the Sting and playing disco in the 70s?) and it shows Russell as the arranger on the album. Elton John sought him out toward the end of Russell’s life and they did an album together titled “The Union.” There might be a documentary about that—can’t recall.
Leon was one of my favorite artists. “Carney” is still a favorite album.
